I doubt it kernel config mistake. Here my configuration related serial and usb ports. If i did modprobe -av option modules were loaded, after mdev -s info /dev/ nothing news happened. There should be /dev/ttyUSB0. On the nokia happened promt about usb connections and it gives chose type of connection to PC. With PC-suit I've no problem to connect, but on linux in doubt.

mdev -s not helpful
lsusb not view new devices after attaching nokia phone. |

Please check your kernel configuration, i think USB Modem (CDC ACM or something like this) should do the job. If not, post again. Never say die .
It should show up as ttyACM _________________ 1 ha == 1 Hekto-Ar == 1 Hektar |

I've tryed with acm driver, anyway after mdev -s usb tty's not appears in /dev/ |
