I'm trying to install Gentoo with the minimal cd, but i can't connect to the internet due to a missing driver.
I have an Atheros AR8162 (ethernet, wireless is an AR9485 but i don't need it by now), so i've downloaded this file but when i get to install (make && make install) i get an error:
make not found.
(btw, with ubuntu 12.10 everything works fine... but i love gent00 )
Anything to do besides to get a live dvd and install it through it[/b]? |

boot the ubuntu livecd Code: | sudo su -
mkdir /mnt/gentoo | and follow the handbook, take advantage of the gui while you are at it.
the gentoo cd adds nothing to the installed system
BTW just looked and genkernel kernel does not build driver module for your ar8162 nic _________________ Defund the FCC. |

It does appear that the kernel has the ar8162 driver available, the minimal cd and genkernel simply choose not to enable it. You will be able to enable it when configuring your kernel.
thought i saw alx in 3.7, dreaming, sorry. _________________ Defund the FCC.

Where did you get that? It's wrong, there's no driver for these ethernet cards in the kernel. |
