Hi! I was wondering if the powersave governor really makes that difference in terms of power saving. I mean, isn't it better to shutdown the computer after a task such as an emerge than keeping the computer turned on longer with all the peripherals because of that governor? Naturally it's only a curiosity of a noob, not that big matter, so reply only if you have nothing better to do! If I put this in the wrong section, excuse my ignorance!

The "powersave" governor is really a misnomer nowadays. Today's CPUs work on a principle called "race to idle": https://lesswatts.org/projects/applications-power-management/race-to-idle.php

Basically, it means there's no sense in using anything but the ondemand governor.

Ok, thanks for the explaination, it's very simple and clear! So it is really worse than useless?
