Are there live ebuilds of GCC - i.e. in an overlay?

After seeing phoronix benchmarks, I’d like to test the upcoming GCC 4.8, but I want to avoid installing it from hand…

I just found the hardened-dev overlay: http://git.overlays.gentoo.org/gitweb/?p=proj/hardened-dev.git;a=log;h=refs/heads/testing

But when I add it with layman (`layman -a hardened-development`) I don’t get gcc 4.8…

Thanks to euscan I now found the correct overlay:

http://euscan.iksaif.net/package/sys-devel/gcc/

Code:
layman -a toolchain

How did it work out for you? I was planning on doing the same, any huge showstoppers? Did everything build ok?

layman -l gives
Quote:
toolchain [Subversion] (svn://o.g.o/proj/toolchain )

In package.unmask, I have: >=sys-devel/gcc-4.7
But emerge -av gcc, wants to install gcc-4.7.2-r1, which I am already using. I'm missing something needed to get gcc-4.8, but I don't what. Thanks,
Fred

If you sync your main portage tree today, GCC 4.8.0 is available now, though currently hard-masked. No need to use an overlay anymore for GCC 4.8.0; you can just unmask the version in the main tree.

Thanks -- I'm getting it now. Needed to add "=sys-devel/gcc-4.8* **" into /etc/portage/package.keywords.

I find it easier to use <sys-libs/gcc-9999 for both package.keyworlds and package unmask.

Anyway, emerged -e world with just one failure: dev-lang/go. Everything else went fine. This is the smoothest transition to a newer gcc I remember.
