according to the Gentoo ALSA wiki page it is possible to setup a file ~/.asoundrc to override ALSA default settings on a per-user basis. Is it possible to make a global alsa config file for all users on a computer? I've tried making /etc/asoundrc but that doesn't seem to work.

The name for the file in /etc is asound.conf, but be careful what you put there. |
