Default recommended partition setup

What is the current default recommended (official ???) partition setup ?

Especially for /usr, should it be a separate partition or be part of / ?

P.S I am aware of the current debate on udev/systemd

I'm not sure what the "official" layout is - or if there even is one. I just use a / and /home partition.

There isn't one. eudev will allow you to keep a separate /usr without requiring your first born. Systemd my also require /var on / (or mounted via initramfs) to work properly. Personally, I split everything up into its own partition if possible.
