Running:
X.Org X Server 1.13.0
Release Date: 2012-09-05
on Lenovo W500 with intel graphics chip:
Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)
I have some serious anomolies.
When X is first started, direct rendering does not work properly at all, and I get the following messages on /var/log/messages:

Also, after a while, the cursor does not change shapes when it should, and the hotspot is in the wrong place, off by a few pixels.
I tried putting -dri in /etc/make.conf and emerge --update --deep --newuse world, but that did not fix it. This problem appeared after last week's routine update. Drove me nuts at first, because it looked like I was having memory failures (ram, not gray matter!). I booted an old disk image, and everything worked properly, so it must be related to the update.
Has anyone seen this before?
Does anyone know what to do to fix it? _________________ The MyWord KJV Bible tool is at http://www.elilabs.com/~myword

Since my last update I'm having the same error messages on a Lenovo X61T Intel graphics but in my case I can't even get past the gdm window that the screen goes black, these problems might be related, have you found a solution to yours? |

I just compiled the latest kernel 3.6.11 and the error messages disappeared (at least in my case). I guess it was some incompatibility between xf86-video-intel and the i915 module. |
