Does anyone know how to set the e17 wallpaper via commandline? There used to be a script or program called e17setroot that would do this but it seems to be long gone.
I gather I need to create an edj file with edje_cc and an edc file. I haven't found a basic (for one static image) edc file yet...
Even then once the edj is created in .e/e/backgrounds/ how would I tell e17 to use it?

BTW, way to go to the folks who got final e17 in portage within a day of release, awesome!

I don't think it is possible now. There used to be a different enlightenment_remote program with which you could set desktop backgrounds. The new one doesn't have as many capabilities as the old one.

You can still generate edj files by scripting it. Here is an example bash function: http://dpaste.com/hold/853159/

I guess what you really want to do is rotate through different image files. You can check out the slideshow module which is also available in enlightenment overlay. IIRC it can help you rotate through images, but I really don't remember properly what exactly it does.

e17setroot was used to set the root wallpaper. This is different from setting the e17 background, which is in a layer above the root window.
