|
|
hi there
I have created a PenDrive/LiveDVD gentoo installation. it looks pretty cool and has many apps so my friend asked me how to install. cause hes not yet a linux geak I want to add a installer like ubuntus ubiquity or anaconda installer to config the system and install the content from the squashfs-file.
I did read about the gentoo anaconda port which is maybee outdated and especially installs a stage 3 archive and not the content of my squash-image.
whats the way you would go for it? i didnt find anything in portage or in overlay which could do the job
thx in advance |

Hi!
I don't think that there is any "ready to go" installer that you could just use.
But it's normally just a few steps anyway.... Cfdisk, mkfs, copy, write bootloader
Be aware that there are different ways to boot such a thing locally....
If you don't have portage on the livecd, there are not much reasons to really extract the whole squashfs (you'll need just the /boot folder) and you can configure the local grub to boot it like it was on the external media. You could also go a step further and use grub2 to boot an iso file directly! http://www.sysresccd.org/Sysresccd-manual-en_Easy_install_SystemRescueCd_on_harddisk#Boot_the_ISO_image_from_the_disk_using_Grub2
Sure you can extract the whole thing and just use it, but i find the one-file-upgrades-everything idea cool.
Anyway, it should be quite easy to script the whole process...
