I had some fun this morning with netmount not mounting nfs-homes anymore. Leaving some 120 boxes unusable after an update yesterday.
I suppose, besides many other things, openrc got updated from 0.9.8.4 to 0.11.6.
I am using nfsmount instead now but I am wondering why netmount isn't working anymore with nfs. Did anyone else run into this?

I sometimes mount NFS share exported from my other PC. Recently I couldn't mount it as normal user. I only received some error about permissions (I'm on yet another pc and can't check exact message). I could mount it without problems as root although.
The culprit is net-fs/nfs-utils-1.2.6 which was stabilized few days ago.
After downgrading to nfs-utils-1.2.3-r1 everything worked as it used to.
I don't know direct cause but I think it has something to do with nfs3 flag missing from net-fs/nfs-utils-1.2.6.
I'm not sure if it's related to your problem or is this something else. |

Meanwhile I have found it out on my own. It's indeed caused by openrc. Netmount does not care about nfs mounts anymore. You will have to use nfsmount instead, as I did already. There is an emerge log about it, which I missed unfortunately. I fear, I'm not very popular at present. |
