Hi all,
When I do "emerge -DNpu world", it returns Code: | # emerge -DNpu world
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild R ] dev-python/pygobject-2.28.6-r52 USE="(-doc%) (-introspection%*)"
[ebuild R ~] www-client/seamonkey-2.14.1 USE="(-jit%*) (-webm%*)"
[ebuild N ] sys-fs/eudev-0 USE="extras gudev hwdb rule_generator -action_modeswitch -build -debug -edd -floppy -introspection -keymap (-selinux) {-test}"
[ebuild N ] virtual/udev-171 USE="acl gudev hwdb -introspection -keymap (-selinux) -static-libs"
[blocks B ] sys-fs/udev ("sys-fs/udev" is blocking sys-fs/eudev-0)
* Error: The above package list contains packages which cannot be
* installed at the same time on the same system.
(sys-fs/udev-171-r9::gentoo, installed) pulled in by
~sys-fs/udev-171[gudev,hwdb] required by (virtual/udev-171::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge)
sys-fs/udev required by @selected
(sys-fs/eudev-0::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by
~sys-fs/eudev-0[gudev,hwdb] required by (virtual/udev-171::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge)
For more information about Blocked Packages, please refer to the following
section of the Gentoo Linux x86 Handbook (architecture is irrelevant):
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?full=1#blocked |
So I wonder why my system needs both udev and eudev which conflict with one another......
So I need help.
Thanks in advance! _________________ Tetsuji Rai

eudev is a fork of udev. You should only need one or the other. That is what the virtual is for.
Try running emerge --deselect udev and see if that fixes your problem. It will remove udev from your world file, which is fine since it should not be there anyway.
EDIT: or it could be a glitch in the portage tree...

Apologies if I take a while to respond. I'm currently working on the dematerialization circuit for my blue box. |

Hi Doctor,
I tried "emerge --dselect udev" but to no avail. So I'm trying hjnenc's resolution.
Thank you! _________________ Tetsuji Rai

Thank you all.!! _________________ Tetsuji Rai
