I do have sound everywhere else but in java.
Latest dev-java/sun-jre-bin (1.6.0.37) is installed, but didn't work with previous versions either.
What can be the issue?

Remove Java 6 (dev-java/sun-jre-bin) and switch to Java 7 (dev-java/oracle-jre-bin).
IIRC you don't even have to remove sun-jre-bin. Just be sure to select appropriate VM with eselect java-vm.
I have tried many things to fix sound in Java and only switching to Java 7 helped. |

Indeed dev-java/oracle-jre-bin made a job. The only drawback is that this version seems to be a little bit slower and consumes more cpu. Marked topic as solved, thx.
