hello, I'm considering downgrading from kde 4.10.3 (unstable) to 4.10.2...not sure it will make much of a difference, but since the upgrade KMail is screwed (see here):

https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-943806-start-0-postdays-0-postorder-asc-highlight-.html

I'd do this by uncommenting the following...
Code:
papapenguin ~ # cat /etc/portage/package.accept_keywords
#kde-base/*    -~amd64

this downgrades everything in kde...including libraries...

Is this a good idea?

Do I need to remove kde first? It seems to me that this would do that for me...

First of all, try again with a new user if the problem persists. If it doesn't, you've got a config problem and a downgrade most likely won't help you.

You create a new user, login to KDE, setup your E-Mail account and see where (and if) it goes? ;)

yeah...I looked around and figured that out...I created that user, and things seemed to work pretty well...I didn't fully set up my email account yet, though...tried to import messages, but couldn't open any folders...I got some sort of 'unable to read folder, folder doesn't exist' window...

seems that downgrading to stable fixed a number of problems...

...nepomuk began working because I downgraded soprano...

...akonadi didn't spit out a bunch of errors...

...I can now access ALL of my emails, when I thought that some of them must be corrupt because they seemed to crash KMail...
Code:
donald@papapenguin ~ $ cat /etc/portage/package.accept_keywords
kde-base/*    -~amd64
app-office/akonadi-server       -~amd64
media-libs/mediastreamer        -~amd64
dev-libs/soprano                -~amd64

donald@papapenguin ~ $

this is what I did...
