Hello everyone,
I am quite new to Linux and I am trying to install Gentoo on an Aspire V5 131 with an Intel 1017U processor and an integrated Intel HD Graphics. Although I was able to manually configure a kernel for my Desktop computer, I had some problems with this machine. In fact, after the reboot, the GRUB works correctly but the screen goes black in the moment it starts loading the kernel. The latest messages it gives are the following:

The "(rescue)" mode has almost the same behaviour, except for the backlight of the screen which goes off (thus the screen is completely shut down).
Another thing is that the GRUB and the following messages are shown in low resolution.
I automatically configured another kernel with genkernel and I can boot now, but the resolution is still low, so I think I would prefer to find a good manual configuration and boot the manually configured kernel.

The kernel configuration in the pastebin appears to be incomplete.
Make sure that CONFIG_FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE is enabled and, if it is built as module, loaded during boot. |

That's strange, because I copied the file created by the configuration program, and I checked it: there was nothing left in the file that I didn't copy. Is it possible that I deactivated the part of options you mentioned by making some strange choices during the configuration?
Anyway, I will try now to check the configuration, to see what can I do. |

Well,
thank you. I was missing that option because I modified another option which CONFIG_FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE was depending on. I fixed the problem and now I am able to boot, with the correct resolution too
