Not something I would've expected. Maybe George realized his 15 minutes were used up a long time ago.

Hopefully they'll restore the originals.

Disney acquires Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion, plans more Star Wars movies

Now they will REALLY start to suck.

What we need is some new, uber-realistic, ultraviolent Star Wars movies, not Disney ones. Star Wars, with violent, inter-species rape, messy disembowelment, and light-saber-cauterized, still throbbing, still smoking, bisected cerebral lobes.

This isn't about art, it's about merchandising: sellling crappy little Made in China plastic toys to yet another generation of children via their nostalgic, over-indulgent parents. Disney used to make heartwarming movies that brought families together. Now they materialize and sexualize children and peddle crap to them. They're part of the idiocracy problem.

The Ewoks hurt Star Wars, but Jar Jar killed Star Wars.

Whatever comes out now will suck, especially with Disney's fingerprints all over it.

Yes, Return of the Jedi sucked tiny Ewok balls.

Wait, do Ewoks have balls?

I actually wouldn't mind an Old Republic movie.

RotJ was the 2nd best of 4 - 6. I used to think it was the best, but I later (much later) gained more of an appreciation for The Empire Strikes Back. I still don't see why all the hullabaloo over Jar Jar.

They've been merchandising and doing limited edition re-releases to cash in for a very long time. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was first re-released in 1944.

With Sith, and no damn Ewoks or Jar Jars. However, Lucas was bought by Disney so that won't happen.

I think everyone's being a little TOO pessimistic about Disney taking over. I think it's pretty clear that Star Wars needs to taken away from George.

George was the mastermind behind Episode 4, but even then, he had a bunch of people convince him to change a bunch of ideas. C-3PO was supposed to be some kind of used car salesman, not the gay interpreter robot that we all know and love. Hell, George didn't even direct Episodes 5 and 6, nor did he do the screenplays.

So, let's just take a deep breath and calm down. We're not losing much. If Disney turns out a shitty Episode 7, it couldn't be much worse than how George would have directed it.

Hah! Well, R2D2 sucks harder, granted.

And that antisemitic, flying used car salesman in the prequels sucked the most.

Wait...

yall are all caught up on the star wars "episode" movies but really, its the clone wars series and spin offs that are keeping the stars wars behemoth moving; which to me plays perfectly into disney's production themes.

you all might be surprised at just how popular star wars is with children, currently. it certainly surprises me.

the "episodes" old people hold so dear are almost irrelevant but its interesting disney is planning an episode 7.

Why are there 16 replies to this thread?

Why do you care what happens to Lucasfilms? StarWars sucked anyway.

The black hole was a disney movie and pretty violent.

But now I am really scared. Just try to imagine a SW movie with The Singing Chipmunk, His Beaverness and Selena 'there is nothing wrong as long as the boy is underage, not the girl' Gomez.

Time to murder some pseudo-people.

Now all the light sabers and ships will have hidden phallus-like renderings.
