Routine updates this morning pulls in:
Code:
[ebuild  N     ] virtual/jack-0  ABI_X86="(64) -32 (-x32)"

on my 64 bit box and:
Code:
[ebuild  N     ] virtual/jack-0

on my 32 bit box.

I do not have media-sound/jack installed. Let it suffice to say "I don't understand." Is this good, bad, or indifferent? Should I have posted this under multimedia?

Virtual files do NOT install anything by it's self; it is more of a placeholder if multiple packages fills that dependency. In this case, it is a placeholder saying that either of these provides jack.

Code:
>=media-sound/jack-audio-connection-kit-0.121.3-r1
      media-sound/jack2

To see what was pulling the virtual in you could use the "-t" option with emerge --pretend.

I should have been able to figure that out. Thanks for the direction. [SOLVED]
