I get the PCI Express AER Driver installed and would like not to have to dig into its code... and even less voluntarily inject errors...

From my logs, I can read:
Code:
pci0000   0: Unable to request _OSC control (_OSC support mask: 0x19)

From this I deduce that some firmware (Most probably the BIOS) doesn't provide _OSC support while using the PCI Express.
Is this deduction correct ?

1/ Now is this inability fatal to the AER driver ? I mean does this message imply that the PCI-E AER driver definitely gave up ?

2/ I understand that I can add aerdriver.forceload=y to kernel boot parameter line but I generally dislike forcing a Linux driver which controls areas already controlled by the BIOS.
Are they known side effects, known breakages induced by such a forcing ?

BTW don't waste your time googling for me... I already did and pffff... OSC means Open Sound Control for Google pseudo-semantic analyzers...
