|
|
I'm trying to install the AMD64 kernel as follows:
Quote: | boot: gentoo acpi=on nodmraid nofirewire nokeymap dolvm docache debug |
For some reason it gives me this error message:
Quote: | can't connect to tty, no volume found |
I'm sure I'm doing something very simple and basic totally wrong, but I followed the instructions in the installation guide.
Thanks for your help.

Quote: | boot: gentoo acpi=on nodmraid nofirewire nokeymap dolvm docache debug | I'm guessing this is a command you are issuing at the boot prompt for the minimal cd. If so, don't. Just pick a 64 bit kernel and hit enter. As the minimal install cd is currently in trouble suggest system rescue cd instead. The sysresccd is gentoo based and may be used just as if a minimal install cd except use elinks vice links. Better yet, boot sysresccd to the xfce4 GUI, open the gentoo handbook in midori browser and copy and paste from handbook to terminal window.
BTW, I would guess nokeymap might = no tty. _________________ Defund the FCC. |

Thanks for the suggestions, and I'll try them, but please let me know what the issue is with the current minimal install CD or provide me a link.

My Firefox gagged on the bug report link because of an expired security certificate. :p As a newcomer to Gentoo I'm liking it less and less.
In the forum thread you linked me to, someone said they successfully installed using a previous version of the minimal install CD. I'm downloading the rescue .iso but Sourceforge throttles downloads so that it's taking forever. |
