Hi.

I've just been stunned recently trying to customize LibreOffice toolbar icons. Couldn't understand why one had to overwrite an existing collection of icons in /usr/lib/libreoffice/blabla (if I remember the location correctly). In fact this is because toolbar icon themes and paths are hard-coded in binary files!

Is there any plan to make this «customizability» smarter?

I would be more impressed if LibreOffice would offer me a simple way to start a new text document with the option to set the language by pressing a single mouse click, like "new (English UK)", "new (Greek)", "new (Spanish)", "new (custom XYZ)". I would get excited if LibreOffice had the option to change that setting for an existing document (in case I am forced to change the language). Of course it's not done by simply changing the language for the entire file. Some documents may include terms from other languages (like "military victory" in French, whatever that may be). Captions of pictures, tables etc. would have be changed (e.g. Table vs. Tabla vs. Tabelle etc.), indices may come with different forms including varying titles. There are many things one could do with templates, but the handling of those is awfukky complicated.

The same is true for other LibreOffice components, such as the drawing program or Impress.

The integration of objects from Draw etc. into the text editor is terrible.

Nevertheless, I am glad that we do have LibreOffice.

Ok.

I see the suite still has a long way to go to get really smart... :D
