Hi!
I have emerged xserver and tested with xterm and twm and they work all right, though it takes a little time for them to start after "startx".
But xrandr keeps telling me he "could not open display". My freshly emerged awesome tells me the same thing (I just type "awesome" in CLI and I guess that isn't the right way but anyway it does provide some information ) and when I try awesome-cli(I don't know what that's for!) it tells me that cannot open 'session' and it cannot invoke a dbus daemon without a $DISPLAY variable for X.
What should I do?
Here's my Xorg.0.log

And my kernel config

stieizc,
I noticed several errors related to evdev. Check make.conf for INPUT_DEVICES="evdev".
In your case you might have synaptics set so include evdev too with INPUT_DEVICES="evdev synaptics" If you have to add it then emerge -uvDN @world to pull it in. _________________ Good luck
