|
|
Hi,
My system is Gentoo x64, updated. I have Gnome 3 and lightdm emerged. My DE works fine after I logged in. But if I lock the screen, not log out, I will not be able to unlock the screen. I assume the unlock password is same as my log in password, but it did not work.
I think there's something wrong with the permission/authentication module, but I do not know how to fix it. Please help!
Thank you,
David _________________ David Shen |

Have you checked logs for any clues as to what is causing the problem?
Next time it happens, hit "Ctrl+F12" and look at the output of dmesg to see if you get any clues. _________________ Whatever you do, do it properly! |

Hi, sorry for the delay!
I checked the log, and I think the relevant messages are:
unix_chkpwd: check pass; user unknown
unix_chkpwd: password check failed for user (user)
gnome-screensaver-dialog: pam_unix(gnome-screensaver:auth): authentication failure;... _________________ David Shen |

haha, i found the solution.
chmod +s /sbin/unix_chkpwd
the "unix_chkpwd" command miss the "s" bit. i think something went wrong when i install my system, or there's a bug _________________ David Shen |
