|I'm posting this as reference for other users that may be bumping into this issue.
For as long as I've had this new computer (3-4 months) I have had rendering problems with text on Firefox (I didn't notice this on any other applications, but it could be there). I'm assuming it probably has to do with the fact I use Nouveau as my driver for my Nvidia card (GTX 560). Here is a link to a screenshot of the problem I took yesterday.
I was able to find some bug reports upstream:
Graphics corruption using recent Cairo
Fallback problem in exaGlyphs
The second one is for ARM platforms, but there is a patch included. Some people in the first bug report have suggested that this patch be tried, and I did so, patching xorg-server with this fix. Lo and behold, the corruption appears to be gone! I've been using Firefox for about an hour and a half since I patched my xorg-server package, and I have not seen any corruption. I can't be the only user with this problem, but I was surprised not finding anything here or in our Bugzilla. Maybe I missed it? If this is the correct fix, upstream will merge it into their packages, I think. This might be a solution to the problem in the meantime.
