Hi,

I've been trying to configure my graphic environment (intel hd2000 + radeon hd6400) for about 2 days and the results are:
1. console is in nice resolution, because driver is loaded (that open source one)
dmesg | grep radeon
Code:
kboom-laptop ~ # dmesg | grep radeon
[drm] radeon defaulting to kernel modesetting.
[drm] radeon kernel modesetting enabled.
radeon 0000:01:00.0: VRAM: 512M 0x0000000000000000 - 0x000000001FFFFFFF (512M used)
radeon 0000:01:00.0: GTT: 512M 0x0000000020000000 - 0x000000003FFFFFFF
[drm] radeon: 512M of VRAM memory ready
[drm] radeon: 512M of GTT memory ready.
radeon 0000:01:00.0: irq 45 for MSI/MSI-X
radeon 0000:01:00.0: radeon: using MSI.
[drm] radeon: irq initialized.
[drm] radeon: ib pool ready.
radeon 0000:01:00.0: WB enabled
[drm] radeon: power management initialized
fbcon: radeondrmfb (fb0) is primary device
fb0: radeondrmfb frame buffer device
[drm] Initialized radeon 2.16.0 20080528 for 0000:01:00.0 on minor 0

But X -configure still throws error:
Code:
List of video drivers:
        radeon
        ati
        intel
(++) Using config file: "/root/xorg.conf.new"
(==) Using system config directory "/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d"
(II) [KMS] No DRICreatePCIBusID symbol, no kernel modesetting.
(II) GPU only supported with KMS, using vesa instead.

Backtrace:
0: X (xorg_backtrace+0x36) [0x56d536]
1: X (0x400000+0x1712c9) [0x5712c9]

I don't know where do ati come from as i unmerged it and did revdep.
When compiling kernel:
Code:
WARNING: /lib/modules/3.4.9-gentoo/video/fglrx.ko needs unknown symbol agp_enable
WARNING: /lib/modules/3.4.9-gentoo/video/fglrx.ko needs unknown symbol agp_backend_acquire

WARNING: /lib/modules/3.4.9-gentoo/video/fglrx.ko needs unknown symbol agp_unbind_memory
WARNING: /lib/modules/3.4.9-gentoo/video/fglrx.ko needs unknown symbol agp_free_memory
WARNING: /lib/modules/3.4.9-gentoo/video/fglrx.ko needs unknown symbol agp_bind_memory
WARNING: /lib/modules/3.4.9-gentoo/video/fglrx.ko needs unknown symbol agp_allocate_memory

Where did it come from?

I know what this is saying but I don't know why as my kernel config seems pretty ok...

What's happening? Help me out please.

X -configure does not work with kms (maybe not at all)

the open source drivers do fine with no /etc/X11/xorg.conf

/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d is available for adding extras

kernel configuration needs work. Should have no selections under Frame buffer hardware drivers see references below for others:

Kernel modules will not be uninstalled on upgrade and sometimes not on removal of packages.
Code:
# find /lib/modules -name fglrx.ko
Also be sure to switch eselect opengl back to xorg-x11 after uninstalling ati-drivers.
