Hi everyone,

I got a new motherboard (ASUS P8Z68-V Pro/Gen3) and after 7 years I decided to make a clean install.

For speeding up the installation process I was using genkernel at first, which works fine! Now, i decided to compile my own kernel which leads me into the following strange behaviour:

When I boot the new kernel, everything seems to work fine but after detecting the USB-devices, the system stops booting. It is still working because when I plug-in additional usb-devices, the system shows additional messages on the screen about the new device. It seems to me like having an "tail -f" running on "dmesg". But I don't get an login and I don't know why...

Does anyone have an idea what needs to be added/removed from the kernel to get it working?

Thanks,
eistaucher

menuconfig:
Quote:
Device Drivers --->
Generic Driver Options --->
(/sbin/hotplug) path to uevent helper[*] Maintain a devtmpfs filesystem to mount at /dev
[*] Automount devtmpfs at /dev, after the kernel mounted the rootfs

Thanks DONAHUE,

This was my missing option!

Thanks a lot! You saved my day!
