Quote: | If you're not using the menu-entry in refind.conf, then AFAIK you must pass arguments to the kernel in the kernel's built-in cmdline, which for me is:
Code:
CONFIG_CMDLINE_BOOL=y
CONFIG_CMDLINE="root=/dev/sda4 quiet loglevel=0"
|
How do I input this via the kernels command line ? _________________ Slugggerzzz ... |

Thanks for that spot khay.
I have changed that now.
I think i should add.
For some reason the menu entrys in my refind.conf file dont work.
so i cannot pass these arguments via the bootloader. How else can i pass them ? _________________ Slugggerzzz ...

Either add the values needed by hand to your .config or just use 'make menuconfig', there's an option in 'processor type and features' _________________ ++++++++++[>+++++++>++++++++++>+++>+<<<<-]>++.>+.+++++++..+++.>++.<<+++++++++++++++.>.+++.------.--------.>+.>. |

Wow thanks for the quick response. I've done that and the kernel now boots.
But now I'm hit with well.... I don't know what.

There's another and easier way to do this: Create a refind_linux.conf file in the kernel's directory. This file looks something like this:
Code: |
"Boot with defaults" "root=/dev/sda3 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7"
"Boot into single-user mode" "root=UUID=1cd95082-bce0-494c-a290-d2e642dd82b7 ro single"
"Boot without graphics" "root=UUID=1cd95082-bce0-494c-a290-d2e642dd82b7 ro"
|
Each line defines one entry for the boot menu's sub-entry. The first line is the default. Each line contains two fields, which are normally enclosed in quotes: a name for the sub-entry and the kernel options.
For more on this, see the rEFInd documentation's page on booting Linux.
The kernel developers were working on something similar, with options to appear in a file called linux.conf, but I haven't checked the latest kernels to see if this has yet been implemented. If so, I don't know what the file format should be.

If you're using rEFInd 0.4.5 or earlier, you need to add "manual" to the "scanfor" line. I changed this in 0.4.6 to include "manual" as one of the defaults, so you could also upgrade to 0.4.6. |

@srs5694, while you're here, I shot you an email ~1 month ago describing some troubles with theming. Did you get that since I haven't heard back, yet. _________________ ++++++++++[>+++++++>++++++++++>+++>+<<<<-]>++.>+.+++++++..+++.>++.<<+++++++++++++++.>.+++.------.--------.>+.>. |

Brilliant, I have a kernel up and running.
Now I didn't expect my wireless to just work.
Not sure what i should do to get it working.
Code: |
03:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4331 802.11a/b/g/n (rev 02)
Subsystem: Apple Inc. AirPort Extreme
Kernel driver in use: bcma-pci-bridge
|
I'm sure that's not the right module
Can someone please guide me ? _________________ Slugggerzzz ... |

Got the same card in my system, just take the related parts of my config, emerge the b43-firmware and set it up with wpa_supplicant directly or some tool if your DE/WM provides one. _________________ ++++++++++[>+++++++>++++++++++>+++>+<<<<-]>++.>+.+++++++..+++.>++.<<+++++++++++++++.>.+++.------.--------.>+.>. |
