Hello everyone,

after an xorg upgrade (and reemerging xorg-drivers and xf86-input-synaptics), the
touchpad on my ThinkPad T60 stopped working. Everything else (e.g. keyboard) is working fine.

I tried to address the problem so I do not see what I am missing (probably something obvious), maybe
some of you can help.

Here are the relevant(?) information:

In my make.conf
Code:
INPUT_DEVICES="mouse keyboard synaptics

excerpt from my dmesg:
http://www.bpaste.net/show/45956/

/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf (/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d is nonexistant on my system):

an excerpt from
Code:

My /etc/X11/xorg.conf:

and finally the Xorg.0.log

and for your convinience:

in case you wondered...

The first question that pops up is: what do you need '"AllowEmptyInput" "false"' for ?
The second: why 'kbd', not 'evdev' ?
The typo in regard of 'synaptics' is quite obvious, though (and that's skipping obsolescence of '"SHMConfig" "true"').

Hello VoidMage,

the xorg.conf I have is pretty old and if I recall correctly the '"AllowEmptyInput" "false"' and
'"SHMConfig" "true"' was needed when I still used HAL although I am not sure. I removed both of them.

Second: again the xorg.conf is old, and 'kbd' is still in there for pure lazyness (also http://xkcd.com/963/).

I have no idea how that typo came in there (seriously I don't recall it being that late when upgrading the system).
I fixed the typo and now the touchpad and trackpoint are working smoothly again thank you very much for pointing this out!

Sorry for bothering you with this *problem*.
