Well I understand this happens to a lot of people, but I've gone through most of the threads I've found with no fix. Glibc always errors out. It should be noted this system was originally under a hardened profile, but as it will no longer be a public server, I'm recompiling it for internal use for other purposes.
emerge --info '=sys-libs/glibc-2.15-r3' Output:

sys-libs/glibc-2.15-r3 was built with the following:
USE="(hardened) (multilib) -debug -gd -profile (-selinux) -vanilla"
CFLAGS="-pipe -march=core2 -O2 -fno-strict-aliasing -fno-stack-protector"
CXXFLAGS="-pipe -march=core2 -O2 -fno-strict-aliasing"

emerge -pqv '=sys-libs/glibc-2.15-r3' Output:
Code:

Now the entire build log is 7.6MB, so unless it would really help I'll just post the last few lines:

That looks like a side effect of trying to remove the hardened patches. Is there a reason you no longer want to run a hardened profile? You said you do not need one, but unless you specifically require a non-hardened version, I suggest switching your Portage profile back to hardened.

Like Hu said, swithing back to hardened profile will be the easier way.
Or use a toolchain that don't have those symbols in it : it mean downloading a non-hardened toolchain from tinderbox or another source.

So be it then. I assumed it would be easier to not run a hardened profile as this would become a HTPC, but I'll probably just start fresh with a non-hardened stage3. Thank you for the help.

You can use a hardened profile without hardened kernel and advanced access control. I doubt the performance penalty associated with the extra security features will be noticeable to you, so unless you need to waste some time reinstalling, I suggest leaving the system on hardened. I have not noticed any build-related issues traced to hardened profile in several years.
