|I'm wondering if anyone has seen this issue:
If you're logged into console via xdm (Gnome) and someone else is logged in remotely through ssh (with ck-launch-session), and the console user initiates a reboot or shutdown, Gnome will actually bring up a window asking for a root password if your policy is to disallow reboots/shutdowns from console while someone remote is logged in.
However if I press cancel... the machine reboots/shuts down anyway! While I tend to not care, just in case I do I'd rather not let it reboot/shutdown.
I think this happens on all my Gnome/Gentoo boxes. I don't have any other flavors to compare it to, and though I have copied installs from machine to machine, all my unique "source" installations seem to exhibit this issue...
Are others seeing this?
