|
|
Hello
When I emerge -pv wine I get app-emulation/wine-1.4.1. After digging in the /usr/portage/app-emulations/wine directory I discovered that there are ebuilds of newer wine versions such as wine-1.5.9. However these do not show up when I do the above command. I am aware that they are marked unstable here for the AMD64 platform which is what I am using.
http://packages.gentoo.org/package/app-emulation/wine
But I would like to emerge it anyways (since Steam has a crash issue with 1.4.1 that can't be fixed with winetricks). How do I go about doing this?
Thanks. |

If the bare name does not give you the desired version, you should ask for it explicitly. Run emerge --pretend --verbose =app-emulation/wine-1.5.9. The error messages will tell you why Portage is not picking this version automatically. |
