The cpu fan is three pins and the fan controller on the main board is also three pins. Is it possible to control the fan speed by commands?
In the manual of the main board there's a pharese which says "Fan Speed Controller" I've attached a picture of the page. The mobo is Biostar P4M80-M4

All I found up to now is that you can control a 3 pins fan on a 4 pins fan controller or at least the guy in this link has done it.

There are commands in thinkwiki which seem to do what I'm looking for
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_control_fan_speed
but I have no idea about the number of pins they're talking about and even if it fits my case I don't know how to adopt it
And finally there are people who use fan controller units or resistors but I'm interested in command way if it exists.
Thanks |

Depends on the motherboard. _________________ Intel Core i7 2700K/Radeon R7 250/24GB DDR3/256GB SSD

3 or 4-pin doesn't make it PWM or voltage regulated.
3-pin fans can be PWM driven.
PWM has the advantage of being less noisy and no still standing fans due to underpowering the first bump of going over the magnetic field.
Most problems come from "overclocking & cooling" features supplied by motherboard/bios manufactors.
I'm not saying they are bad (they work pretty well actually) but often these functions will disable custom adjustments. |
