From time to time X freezes on my netbook without any specific reason, /var/log/messages and /var/log/Xorg.0.log show nothing unusual.
Very often it happens on flash pages (e.g. youtube) in fullscreen mode, especially in connection with changing volume by Fn+PgUp/PgDown. It didn't happen every time however.

The symptoms are the following:
1. Screen freezes completly, nothing is changing, cannot click anything or use keybord
2. Keybord shortcuts in wm (gnome-light + sawfish) doesn't work either
3. Sound (alsa) is still playing normally!
4. The only thing I'm able to do is Alt+Ctrl+1, login as root and restart xdm (gdm).
Killing application on which X freezed doesn't help.

How can I debug/pinpoint the cause?

I'd check dmesg, but crappy flash is the obvious suspect here.
