A question about the Kensington slimblade trackball

I am thinking about ordering the kensington slimblade trackball. The only thing that seems to bug me is the fact that it does not have support for linux.
Therefore, I wonder if there is another way to remap the keys in gentoo.
I also wonder if there is anyone here familiar with using the slimblade(or other kensington trackballs) under gentoo/other distro's.

Also, I was not sure where to put this post, but this seemed like the most appropiate place.
