Have alsa-lib-1.1.7 and pulseaudio. Any app that uses alsa instead of pulse is no longer working.

For example, mplayer:

Code:
# mplayer -ao alsa:
[...]
[AO_ALSA] alsa-lib: /tmp-ram/portage/media-libs/alsa-lib-1.1.7/work/alsa-lib-1.1.7/src/pcm/pcm_dmix.c:1099:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
[AO_ALSA] Playback open error: No such file or directory
Failed to initialize audio driver 'alsa'
Could not open/initialize audio device -> no sound.
Audio: no sound

Previously, using the alsa output would correctly trigger pulseaudio's alsa plugin:

Code:
# pacmd list-clients
[...]
   index: 20
        driver: <protocol-native.c>
        owner module: 11
        properties:
                application.name = "ALSA plug-in [mplayer]"
                native-protocol.peer = "UNIX socket client"
                native-protocol.version = "33"
                application.process.id = "215276"
                application.process.user = "xxxx"
                application.process.host = "yyyyy"
                application.process.binary = "mplayer"
                application.language = "C"
                window.x11.display = ":0"
                application.process.machine_id = "8c20551af3d4f2c02b9c137f0000ff34"
                application.process.session_id = "1"

This is specific to alsa-lib-1.1.7.
Any hints to fix this (besides downgrading to alsa-lib-1.1.6-r1) greatly appreciated!

found it: alsa-plugins-1.1.7 forgot to symlink /usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf.d/51-pulseaudio-probe.conf in /etc/alsa/conf.d.
