Trying to set up remote control of vlc, however the 'Web' interface that is needed to do this is not present. Many sources say that it should be.

Any help appreciated.

According to equery use vlc, setting USE=httpd should enable this feature. Did that not work for you? How do you know the interface is not present?

fedeliallalinea thanks for the clue. Not limited to vlc-2. I checked that link and found that for the 'Web' interface add the 'lua' USE flag then reemerge. Don't know if it works yet but the the 'Web' interface option appears 'Tool>Preferences>Show Settings(All)>Main Interfaces'.

Many Thanks
