Haven't tried Gentoo install for years, but all other CD's let you edit the kernel command line before booting. You sure Gentoo CD won't allow it?

Edit: Sure you can do it, see http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-amd64.xml?part=1&chap=2

I tried rebooting with nodmraid but it didn't make a difference, still got this error...

Quote:
mdadm: super1.x cannot open /dev/sda1: Device or resource busy
mdadm: failed container membership check
mdadm: /dev/sda1 is not suitable for this array

There is nothing on sda1.

sda and sdc are two brand new hard drives with nothing on them. I want to setup RAID1 using those two drives and then install Gentoo. All I have done is used fdisk to partition them

I assume there is also sdb. What if your drives are recognized differently from CD. Did you run fdisk -l to verify?

There is a sdb, sdd, sde, sdf(cdrom)

They are all blank. I don't want to do anything with those right now. I want to get hda and hdc setup as RAID1 and then install Gentoo on them.
