Hi,

I am trying to configure the system printer using GNOME's system-config-printer. Here is the run down of how far I've gotten.

When I first tried to start it, I got a dialog box asking to connect to the cups service. I didn't have that installed, so I called "emerge cupsd" and started the service, also adding it to runlevel. After doing that, I opened the dialog again and chose /var/run/cups/cups.sock. When I hit connect, the GUI app crashes and exits. If I try to open the dialog at all while cups is still running, it won't open. It just crashes. I looked at the log files for cups and all I see are a bunch of "200 OK" messages, suggesting that the requests were successful. When I ran "system-config-printer --debug" from the command line, I didn't get anything that looked like an error. It just exits at some point. I'm sorry I don't have the output with me now since I'm at work and my laptop is at home, but I can post that later. But if anyone can tell me from the information I've given what I might be doing wrong that would be greatly appreciated.

Ok when I tried to run it without --debug I get this message:

cannot connect to the session bus: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

I checked dbus and it's already started. What could be wrong?
