|
|
Several times I've found myself interested in a particular mailing list and although a list is archived, there does not seem to be a good search utility of the archives.
For example, scribus (an digitial layout program) has a mailing list archive, created by GNU mailman. http://lists.scribus.net/pipermail/scribus/ There are zip files going back to 2002 for every month.
What I'd like to do is download the archives and then process them so they are searchable. It would be a bonus if I could do something with having any current postings fed into the database so the search facility, presumably through a web interface, always has the latest and greatest.
Any suggestions on methodology or software to use to accomplish this goal? |

jlpoole ...
I use net-mail/notmuch for such things, but its maildir only and I imagine these archives are mbox, you could try net-mail/mairix (homepage) which supports mbox format.
HTH & best ...
