|
|
Hello, I have this i7 cpu that has turbo boost and stuff. I've noticed that when the cpu is idle it underclocks to 1.6GHz and it rises upon needed up to my max 4.4GHz.
The problem here is that the cpu Vcore is always the same (1.29V), it doesn't undervolt when it underclocks.
I've noticed that this is the common behaviour in windows - when the cpu underclocks it also undervolts (at 1.6GHz it stays at 1.11V in windows), is there any way to trick it to do that on gentoo?
Any tips appreciated.
Thanks. |

you could try phc-intel but I don't know if it handles i7s
(works great on my core 2 duo ...) _________________ .... there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth

How are you checking the voltage under linux?
the acpi-cpufreq driver suppose to undervolt cpu as well. Linux-phc allow you just to change the specified voltage on specified freq (I also use it, love it). |

Well, I rely on lm_sensors.

I'm already having/using the kernel's cpufreq drivers which automatically underclock the cpu.
Any tips how could I achieve the undervolting as well?
Btw phc-intel doesn't seem to support i7 (very well) so I'd like to avoid it. |
