Hi,
Yesterday I did as usually emerge --sync & emerge -upDN world. It was some updates for ffmpeg, mplayer and polkit & udisks. After this I did emerge --depclean and revdep-rebuild.
I use ~amd64 system.

Today morning I had a problem with starting KDE, system freeze for a moment (about 20sec) with the initial screen, and after this long time I had a KDE desktop. As I can seen card reader doesn't work, charger status (laptop) says battery is not present, etc.

During this slow starting time, there was a such message on the console:
Quote:
error = org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply

Any idea how to fix it?

....

UPDATE

I reemerged polkit and udisks, For udisks I have such message:
Code:
* Messages for package sys-fs/udisks-1.98.0:

 *   CONFIG_USB_SUSPEND:         is not set when it should be.
 * Please check to make sure these options are set correctly.
 * Failure to do so may cause unexpected problems.

Maybe this make a problem?

Unfortunately I can not find USB_SUSPEND in the three (I use make menuconfig), but commend / (find) says is there somewhere in Device Drivers > USB SUPPORT.

Xywa,

Support for Host-side USB has to be enabled

--- USB support │ │

Good luck :wink:

I have got everything like you ^^
but I don't have this in my 3.4.2gentoo-r1 kernel
Code:
 [*]     USB runtime power management (autosuspend) and wakeup

:(

Maybe because I was coping my .config file from older kernels?

This is result of my / (search)

Xywa,

It seems like your "Depends" differs from mine :?

USB_SUPPORT [=y] && USB [=y] && PM_RUNTIME [=y]

Check the setting for Power management and ACPI options / Run-time PM core functionality

[*] Suspend to RAM and standby │ │
│ │ [*] Hibernation (aka 'suspend to disk') │ │
│ │ () Default resume partition │ │
│ │ [*] Run-time PM core functionality │ │
│ │

Those "Depends" can get confusing at times :roll:

Good luck :wink:
