I suppose I speak for many of us who try to run stable as much as possible.... could someone explain why several recent releases of FF have not gone stable yet? Not complaining, but it seems odd that it should be taking so long. Are there some serious problems in the code? I have tried to search the forums for some note about this, but haven't found it (due no doubt, as usual, to the extremely poor search functionality of this forum s/w :cry: )

See https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=421051

Basically they only want to stabilize the LTS releases: 10, 15, etc.

You can just unmask them... Firefox 13 is available through portage. Just install it using

Code:
emerge -av ">=firefox-13.0" --autounmask-write

Then update your config files with etc-update and rerun the emerge; it will take some time but you have the latest firefox then...
Ah... Before you're doing this, don't forget to

Code:
emerge --sync

Thanks dansou90, but I know how to install ~arch masked versions :) However I'm unfamiliar with the --autounmask-write option, so thanks to you, I'll check that out and learn what it does...
