I dd'ed over the latest ppc mini install iso to the pen drive from a linux system\

I stick it in the powerbook and boot to the open boot

I use dev usb1 ls to confirm that the device is recognized as a disk

I use devalias to find out what usb1 really is: /pci@....blah blah

I set cd to that with devalias

I confirm the path to the yaboot file with dir cd/disk@1:,\boot\

So I boot there with: boot <same as above>\yaboot

it says:

Unkown device type <usb>
cd:-1,/boot/boot.msg: Unable to open file, Invalid device
Welcome to yaboot version 1.3.13
Enter "help"...

I go ahead and try to boot the ppc32 kernel

I get the same "Unkown device type <usb>..." error as above

help?

I can't find anything relevant on the web. All the websites say this should work.

Thanks,
-Kevin

-----------------------SOLUTION----------------------

the devalias cd command needed to include not only the stuff from devalias usb1 but also the /disk@1 part from dev / ls appended

so its like:

devalias cd /pci@f2000000/usb@1b/disk@1
