I got PlayOnLinux 4.0.14 installed on Gentoo amd64 with Zen kernel 3.3.7.

When first time i tried to start POL it failed because was asking for python 2.6, so i set main python version as 2.7 and then it started. Second problem appeared when I searched for software description inside POL and also I unable to install any versions of WINE

I shoot this video which fully represents my problem - http://youtu.be/etEEQplc-jw

Hmmm, try and double click on the categories and see if that pulls any of the apps and games up.

Nope. Tried to double click. Also list of available libraries for override is empty. Got same problem on both machines where Gentoo installed and one machine with Ubuntu where POL works fine and successfully gets all info.

Hmmm, let me emerge POL for ya and see what the results are... :)

Okay, so it's emerged... and I do not experience the same issue you're having. Perhaps, you should remove the ~/.PlayOnLinux directory and try it again and see if that helps. 8)

Ok, I found the source of problem. Asked about it in POL messenger. Short answer - My POL version is too old and I need update it to recent available version, because this well known bug and been fixed long time ago.
Then I been advised to use POL which is available on official website 4.1.1 (our in portage has old and nasty 4.0.14 v). That's fine to me to try recent, because POL runs as portable application and doesn't mess portage. But, I got problem when launching it - "PlayOnLinux cannot find icotool." Then I started to search this magic "icotool" in portage - not found, then Google said me gently that it may be part of media-gfx/icoutils package. Tried to compile it and failed on
Code:

 Emerging (1 of 1) media-gfx/icoutils-0.29.1-r1
 * icoutils-0.29.1.tar.bz2 RMD160 SHA1 SHA256 size ;-) ...               [ ok ]
>>> Unpacking source...
>>> Unpacking icoutils-0.29.1.tar.bz2 to /var/tmp/portage/media-gfx/icoutils-0.29.1-r1/work
>>> Source unpacked in /var/tmp/portage/media-gfx/icoutils-0.29.1-r1/work
>>> Preparing source in /var/tmp/portage/media-gfx/icoutils-0.29.1-r1/work/icoutils-0.29.1 ...
 * Applying icoutils-0.29.1-locale.patch ...                             [ ok ]
 * Running eautoreconf in '/var/tmp/portage/media-gfx/icoutils-0.29.1-r1/work/icoutils-0.29.1' ...
 * Running autopoint --force ...                                         [ !! ]

 * Failed Running autopoint !
 *
 * Include in your bugreport the contents of:
 *
 *   /var/tmp/portage/media-gfx/icoutils-0.29.1-r1/temp/autopoint.out

 * ERROR: media-gfx/icoutils-0.29.1-r1 failed (prepare phase):
 *   Failed Running autopoint !

Fixed and found real source of problem. The problem was in wget, it was giving an error "wget --4 unrecognised option" That means it tried to retrieve software info using ipv6 protocol, which was enabled in kernel, but in fact lacked wget doesn't know about ipv6. Then i discovered that i may compile wget with ipv6 support, so i did and then everything became normal. Even old version of POL starts retrieving info.
