Hi.

Sounds weird, I know :D. I've just noticed Xfce power manager popups are a triangle instead of a rectangle. There seems to be a problem with displaying Xfce power manager popup (aka notification) windows. Like this. Looks like it's a bug but not sure what I'm supposed to do. I've recompiled it but it didn't fix the issue.

I have xfce4-power-manager-0.8.5. Did anyone have that issue?

I use XFCE now and then and never noticed this, but this is very curious. Can you post a screenshot?

That is just bizarre. And you have absolutely no other graphics problems at all?

Absolutely none :D . Well, as for notifications, only Xfce power manager is showing popup notifications at all; it's been years that I've never seen Pidgin's notifications when I get a new email but I just wonder what setting is responsible for that. Other than that, no, never saw the slightest problem. I'm using KMS with my ATI Radeon X3650 BTW.

Maybe you should try earlier (or newer, if extant) versions of the notification daemon. It sounds like something is wrong with this particular version if there's nothing else wrong on your system.

Well, x11-misc/notification-daemon in portage is version 0.4.0-r1, the one I have. Is it the one you're talking about? If that's about xfce4-notifyd, I can't install it as it's blocked by libnotify, which is required by quite a few packages (seahorse, gnomebaker, parole, orage, exo...)

Did you mean to say that notification-daemon is blocking xfce4-notifyd? I have libnotify and it's not blocking xfce4-notifyd, but notification-daemon is.

Code:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild  N    ] dev-perl/extutils-depends-0.302  11 kB
[ebuild  N    ] dev-perl/extutils-pkgconfig-1.12  9 kB
[ebuild  N    ] dev-perl/glib-perl-1.223  261 kB
[ebuild  N    ] xfce-base/libxfce4util-4.6.2  USE="-debug" 391 kB
[ebuild  N    ] dev-util/xfce4-dev-tools-4.7.2  67 kB
[ebuild  N    ] xfce-base/xfconf-4.7.3  USE="perl -debug" 480 kB
[ebuild  N    ] xfce-base/libxfce4ui-4.7.3  USE="startup-notification -debug -glade" 419 kB
[ebuild  N    ] xfce-base/exo-0.3.107  USE="hal libnotify python -debug" 1,845 kB
[ebuild  N    ] xfce-extra/xfce4-notifyd-0.1.0_p20100824  USE="-debug -libsexy" 148 kB
[blocks B     ] x11-misc/notification-daemon ("x11-misc/notification-daemon" is blocking xfce-extra/xfce4-notifyd-0.1.0_p20100824)

If that's the case, you could unmerge notification-daemon and emerge xfce4-notifyd.

that looks like a default libnotify popup.

you can try and see if this displays properly for you

notify-send -u critical -i /usr/share/pixmaps/Thunar/Thunar-fallback-icon.png summary message

Aaah, this doesn't show at the same place but at the bottom right corner of my screen. Most of all, what you suggested is displayed 100% correctly, with a proper and full rectangle. So I just realize that notifications are working because that's the place where notifications appear when I plug USB drives. Hence Xfce power manager applet might use another notification system, am I making sense?
