Hello,

I apologize if this question was asked before, but I'm wondering how to install Gnome 3.2. I've searched on Google, found some informative forum posts and links on why Gentoo hasn't evolved from Gnome 2.32, but couldn't find anything on how to install Gnome 3.2. There is the Gnome 3.2 Upgrade Guide, but that doesn't really explain how to install Gnome 3.2 on a fresh system instead of installing the default Gnome 2.32.

From what I understand, the reason for not having Gnome 3.2 as default is that it is not stable enough. However, there must be a way to get it through Portage. Is it masked? If so, how do I unmask it and mask Gnome2? DistroWatch.com lists Gnome 3.2 on Gentoo 12.1 release. How could I use the Gentoo 12.1 Portage repo?

I thank you in advance for any help on this.[/i][/url]

I think "emerge -va --autounmask-write gnome-base/gnome-3.2.1" should get you most of the way there… you might have to manually unmask a couple more things as well.

Thanks - I'll try that out. 8)
