So i'm trying to get an Epson Perfection V100 Photo scanner working on my system.
After installing sane etc, I found out that I needed to download iscan to get it to work, fair enough.
After much hassling attempting to compile it from scratch, installing the rpm/deb versions and whatnot, I finally thought to check and yes, iscan and iscan-data are in the official gentoo tree (duh).
Anyway, it still isn't working.
I've edited /etc/sane.d/dll.conf to only show epson, epson2, and ekowa.
at this point if i typed in 'iscan' it came up with a "could not find device" error.
Next:
> sane-find-scanner
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8 [EPSON], product=0x012d [EPSON Scanner]) at libusb:002:052
So i've edited /etc/sane.d/epkowa.conf to show:
usb 0x04b8 0x012d
then:
scanimage -L
device `epkowa:usb:002:052' is a Epson (unknown model) flatbed scanner
(whether this is a good thing or not I don't know)
and when I type in 'iscan' from a konsole, it just does nothing. Sits for about 5 minutes then returns me to a prompt.
So:
- Is iscan usable from 64bit? Some threads i've read and googling i've done seems to suggest it's not.
- If so, do I have to run a 32bit chroot? (I'd rather not)
- Do I need another plugin? I've read this, but in my list of iscan plugins there's not many and gts600 is not one of them.
- Do I have to (how?) add that plugin.ebuild to my portage somehow?
- Anything else i've missed? |

I have a V30 that I use without any problems on amd64...
scanimage -L returns
device `epkowa:interpreter:001:005' is a Epson Perfection V30 flatbed scanner
and iscan (I usually use xsane) loads almost instantly.
perhaps it's a permission issue... does it work as root? _________________ Ryzen 3700X, Asus Prime X570-Pro, 64 GB DDR4 3200, GeForce GTX 1660 Super

Yes you need the plugin installed with the ebuild described from the gentoo forum link you posted.
I worked it all out with a local overlay using layman. You can read my reply on the thread.
I have 1 working Epson Perfection V100 |
