I just tried emerging cinnamon, and it seems the ebuild tries to have cinnamon depend on gnome-menus-2.30.5, while it also depends on gnome-control-center which pulls gnome-menus-3.2.0.1. This is creating a conflict where the ebuild's requirements are impossible to meet. Could someone remove the old 2.30.5 dependency and just let it pull it indirectly through gnome-control-center?

If I take the version number off of anything in any of the portage config files it just says "invalid package atom: =gnome-base/gnome-menus" and continues doing the exact same thing it did before. How do I make portage respect my authoritah? :P

EDIT: nevermind lol I figured it out. Remove equals sign, but leave the whole app-category/app-name format with no version. Boy I wish I had known that sooner.. like if it were actually documented somewhere.

Here. The same applies for masking, and useflags.
