I know this is just a cosmetic issue, but I have a Sun Fire V210 with Gentoo, and when I log into ALOM, it uses 'unknown' instead of my system's configured hostname:

Sun(tm) Advanced Lights Out Manager 1.6.10 (unknown)

Is there any way to make my hostname available to ALOM for display?

I don't know. Just a wild guess: you could try setting DEFAULT_HOSTNAME in the kernel configuration (under General Setup) and then rebuilding the application; maybe it picks it up from there.
