Never really checked the nvidia-settings, but when I click on GPU-info it says under bus type:

PCI Express 0x

Why does it say 0x? Duno what it is supposed to say.

The x means hexadecimal, which is one of the many ways that programmers make things complicated for no apparent reason. And the first number is zero rather than 1, because programmers can't count - this is the main reason for all the "off-by-1" errors in programs ;)

Motherboards usually have 2 PCI slots, numbered (with their good-for-the-computer-but-confusing-for-users scheme) 0 and 1.

I blame the C programming language for all this nonsense

I looked deeper into it....

lspci -vv says speed 2.5GT/s width x16

cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep -i link
=> .... Detected PCI Express Link width: 0X
