Now that x11-misc/slim requires pam, I am looking for another display manager (anything that requires pam is a non-starter - the main reason I use Gentoo is to avoid having pam shoved down my throat).

I am looking for something light and simple. Any recommendations? Thank you in advance.

You might like lxdm with -pam.

Apologies if I take a while to respond. I'm currently working on the dematerialization circuit for my blue box.

Does slim really require pam, though?

Code:
% USE="-pam -consolekit" emerge -vp \=x11-misc/slim-1.3.3

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild  N    ~] x11-misc/slim-1.3.3  USE="-branding -consolekit -pam" 222 kB

Total: 1 package (1 new), Size of downloads: 222 kB

The following keyword changes are necessary to proceed:
#required by =x11-misc/slim-1.3.3 (argument)
=x11-misc/slim-1.3.3 ~amd64

It does with consolekit (which is becoming more and more necessary).
