Just testing Plymouth.
Seems to work ok until it has to switch to the desktop. The screen goes blank.

I'm using KDE / KDM with autologin. KMS (Intel) is enabled in the kernel (not as module). The only complaint from dracut when buiilding an initrd is that kexec is missing but that seems to be no issue. After booting the only error message is that shm tmpfs is not mounted or not known. I can only get to the VTs when I have xdm removed from the runlevels. When xdm is enabled in the runlevel I can't access the VTs.

As I've found out meanwhile, there's a problem with KDM and Plymouth not being quite compatible at the moment.
I could set xdm in the default runlevel by editing kdmrc and adding "-no background" to the line "Server Args local" or something like that.
That didn't solve the problem but I didn't end up with an unusable blank screen but in the normal VTs.

Anyhow switched to the normal fbsplash again.
